Christopher Chu, MD, FAAD
Christopher Chu, MD, FAAD, is a double board-certified dermatologist and dermatopathologist who practices at Pure Dermatology in Austin, Texas. Dr. Chu’s is committed to ethical, transparent, and evidence-based medicine. Dr. Chu provides a comprehensive spectrum of dermatologic services, specializing in both medical and cosmetic dermatology.
Dr. Chu also practices as a dermatopathologist at Sagis Diagnostics, where he specializes in the interpretation of skin biopsies, ensuring patients receive reliable diagnoses. His dual certification is a testament to his advanced understanding of various skin diseases.
Dr. Chu graduated with honors from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Arts in Plan II Honors and a Bachelor of Science in neurobiology. He then earned his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, and then his transitional year internship at Virginia Mason in Seattle, Washington. Finally, he completed his dermatology residency and dermatopathology fellowship at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania. He served as chief resident in the final year of his residency.
In 2020, Dr. Chu and his wife returned to their hometown of Austin, Texas, to raise their children among family and friends.
Dr. Chu has authored numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals, penned book chapters, and presented at national conferences. His passion for continuous learning is evident through his ongoing participation in conferences, ensuring that he can offer state-of-the-art medical and cosmetic dermatology to his patients.
Dr. Chu is an active member of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS), the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), and the American Society of Dermatopathology (ASDP).
Dr. Chu enjoys quality time with his three children and black Labrador. His hobbies include hiking, rock climbing, cooking, and exploring different culinary traditions. He is fluent in Mandarin and English.
